projectsAbandoned babies growing crisis in Ukraine |
|
The number of young children in Ukraine, 0-3 years of age, placed in state care institutions has been growing at an alarming rate over the last 10 years. In 2004, there were an estimated 3,500 abandoned young children living under the care of the state. Most experts believe the number is now much higher and growing at an alarming rate. The majority of these children were left at birth due to circumstances such as family poverty, the young age of the mother and HIV status. How We're HelpingUkrainian Childrens Fund has come to the aid of these defenseless children. Our volunteers work directly with the doctors and nurses at the hospitals, who are doing the best they can, but lack the resources to buy the basic needs of the babies. Our fund purchases diapers, lotions, baby powder and other basic care necessities and distributes the supplies to the hospitals. Currently, we have volunteers working with the children's hospitals in two cities, Brovary and Fastov. Both are located in the Kyiv region. We invite you to help us make a difference in the life child who has no parents. Your generous gift will provide a baby's basic need for diapers, powder, lotion and soap. Make your donation today, 100% will be used to help care for a baby that's been abandoned. Make a donation to Ukrainian Childrens Fund |
